Position Title: Executive Director, Women’s Congressional Staff Foundation (WCSF)

Reports to: Chair of the WCSF Board of Directors

Position Location: Remote or in Washington, DC

Founded in 2018, the Women’s Congressional Staff Foundation (WCSF) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring more women

successfully serve in internships and in senior staff positions on Capitol Hill. Our mission is primarily advanced through a scholarship program that helps

women from diverse backgrounds serve in a Congressional internship, and through a curriculum program that provides professional development

opportunities for existing Capitol Hill staffers.

Position Description

WCSF is seeking its first-ever Executive Director who is committed to promoting women’s leadership in a bipartisan manner, and who has a

background and experiences that will help them succeed in performing executive functions related to the organization’s daily operations. As WCSF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the goal of supporting and promoting the next generation of women’s leadership on Capitol Hill, the ideal candidate will understand the need to deploy an innovative, multi- pronged approach to grow and diversify the ranks of women who serve in senior Congressional staff positions.

The Executive Director will be responsible for all facets of running the organization and accountable to the Board of Directors. This is a unique opportunity to conceptualize and help grow the organization from the ground up -- it is a role best suited for those individuals who have an entrepreneurial mindset. The ideal candidate will be creative and strategic while also being highly-motivated and organized. As the first full-time employee of WCSF, the ideal candidate will understand that working for a small organization requires doing every part of every job. This person should also have experience working within the political ecosystems in Washington, DC and be comfortable interacting with elected and government officials and business leaders on a regular basis

The Executive Director will report directly to the Chair of the WCSF Board of Directors and will provide regular updates, as requested, to the Board of Directors as a whole. The Board of Directors is currently composed of an all- volunteer group of successful leaders in a variety of fields who have previously served on or around Capitol Hill offices and have a mission-driven approach to their individual board service.

Responsibilities

Internal operations:

● Oversees and executes daily operational tasks, external communications and programming, fundraising initiatives, the annual event, and other activities initiated by the Board of Directors

● Develops and oversees implementation of programs and projects that support and advance WCSF’s mission and goals including scholarship program and curriculum opportunities

● Manages WCSF intern/s

● Coordinates with the Board of Directors to create meeting agendas

● Records minutes during board meetings

● Performs any other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors

External focus:

● Actively engages and energizes partnering organizations, sponsors, and leadership and advisory board members to embrace WCSF’s programmatic efforts

● Professionally represents WCSF at social, government, and corporate events in ways that strengthen the brand

Fundraising:

● Oversees the implementation and execution of WCSF’s fundraising strategy to meet year-end goals

● Oversees the maintenance of an efficient and accurate system for receipt, acknowledgement, and accounting of all funds received by WCSF

● Supports WCSF’s Treasurer in payment of vendors according to the program’s budget, and ensures finances, operations and compliance are consistent with best practices

● Ensures funds received are used for intended purpose(s) and that internal policies and practices comply with donor instructions and local, state, and federal laws and regulations

Communications:

● Manages WCSF’s digital assets including the website and social media channels

● Develops informative resource materials for the organization’s sponsors and advisory groups as directed by the Board of Directors

Qualifications

WCSF is seeking an applicant who is enthusiastic about collaborating and presenting fresh ideas. Individuals with many of the following qualifications are encouraged to apply for consideration:

● Passion for and deep commitment to women’s professional development

● 5-6 years in a related field, including internship experience

● Ability to work independently and as part of a team

● Capitol Hill or related non-profit experience preferred

● Excellent written and verbal communications skills

● Experience overseeing organizational operations and outside vendors to ensure fiscal accountability and effective programs

● Experience creating and executing strategic plans in partnership with a board of directors

● Experience representing an organization in brand management, public speaking, and written communications (including digital/social media campaigns)

● Experience in event planning

● Experience in fundraising and building partnerships with business

and public sector entities as well as government and elected officials

● Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Mailchimp and Squarespace

The Executive Director for WCSF is a full-time, exempt position based in the Washington, DC area. The WCSF Board of Directors will require the Executive Director to have the ability to work from home, but must also have the ability to attend certain meetings, events, and stakeholder engagements on a predetermined basis.

Expected salary range for full-time work is $80,000 to $100,000, depending on qualifications and experience. In addition to that, the Executive Director will receive a competitive benefits package that includes: a health insurance stipend, retirement plan, generous leave policy (including up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave), and a tech stipend [due to the remote nature of the position].
