Interested in Joining the Foundation’s

Board of Directors?

We’d love to hear from you!

The Women’s Congressional Staff Foundation (WCSF) is looking to expand its board.

If you’re passionate about supporting the next generation of powerful women on Capitol Hill, we want you to join us as a board member of the Women's Congressional Staff Foundation (WCSF)!

WCSF's mission is to increase the number, rank, and leadership skills of women working for the U.S. Congress. To do that, we award scholarships to help young women who couldn’t otherwise afford to accept Capitol Hill internships and offer programs to make sure women who are already on the Hill are equipped to succeed in senior staff positions.

About You:

  • You’re ready to work hard, think creatively, and make connections as we continue to make WCSF bigger and better!

  • You come from any  background or political affiliation. We are truly bicameral and bipartisan.

  • We welcome and encourage diversity. And it’s a bonus if you have experience in fundraising, event planning or communications.

About Us:

  • The WCSF’s non-partisan Board of Directors is composed of leaders from the nonprofit, government and for-profit sectors who are dedicated to the organization’s mission. Our board members champion the importance of having more women serve in senior staff roles on Capitol Hill. Our board members are active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and are fully engaged in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the Women’s Congressional Staff Foundation to advance its mission.

  • We’re a working board! That means we don’t have staff yet. All board members must be willing and able to commit the time needed to fundraise, support our scholarship program, and contribute to the success of our events.

    • Other expectations include: attending monthly meetings (including an annual retreat); doing the behind-the-scenes work necessary to make our scholarship and curriculum programs a continued success, such as drafting content, coordinating with donors and venders, and promoting our scholarship program. And getting involved with the annual fundraising event, which provides Capitol Hill internship opportunities for young women from disadvantaged backgrounds.

  • Most of our work gets done in committee. Everyone serves on 1-3 committees: Governance, Fundraising, Event Planning, Scholarship and Curriculum.

  • Prior employment on Capitol Hill is not required. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.

Application process:

To apply, send an email to womenscsf@gmail.com with your resume, name and contact information for two references, and a cover letter outlining your interest in joining the WCSF board and what skills and experiences you would bring to the team. If not included on your resume, please note if you previously held a leadership role in the Women’s Congressional Staff Association.
